How to Order the Correct Quarry Tile Rack
Quarry tile sizes can vary between manufacturers and production runs. Measure the tiles you will actually install before choosing a rack. A nominal 6" or 8" tile may not measure exactly that size.
- Measure your tile. Measure the width and height of several tiles from your job and check for size variation.
- Select the nominal rack family. Choose the 6" Ă— 6" or 8" Ă— 8" rack family in the product options above. This is only the general rack category.
- Select your actual tile size. Under Select Your Tile Size, pick the measurement that matches your tile. The choice also shows its rack model (for example, SJ66).
- Confirm the dimensions. Compare the recommended actual tile size, pocket size and rack model in the chart below. The standard recommendation uses a ¼" grout joint, accounting for ⅛" metal grid thickness plus ⅛" of tile clearance.
- Review and order. Confirm your chosen rack model, read the special-order terms, check the required sizing acknowledgement, and then select Add to Cart.
Rack pocket: 6¼" Ă— 6¼". Inside-to-inside opening: 6â…›" Ă— 6â…›". Recommended actual tile size: 6" Ă— 6" for a ¼" grout joint.
Sizing calculation: rack pocket − ⅛" steel − ⅛" clearance = recommended tile dimension.

Before ordering: Measure multiple tiles from your actual job lot and confirm the intended grout joint. Special-order racks are non-returnable. SJ80 and SJ81 dimensions should be reconfirmed against the current rack drawings before production.
