What size manual tile cutter do I need?
The size of your tile cutter depends on the largest tile you plan to cut, especially if you are cutting on a diagonal. To calculate the diagonal, multiply the length of the tile by 1.414. For example, to cut a standard 24" x 24" tile on a diagonal, you need a tile cutter with at least a 34-inch cutting length capacity.

What is the difference between a manual tile cutter and a wet tile saw?
A manual snap cutter is much faster, creates zero dust or water mess, and is perfect for making quick straight cuts on ceramic and porcelain tiles directly in your workspace. A wet tile saw uses a motorized diamond blade and water, making it necessary for cutting natural stone, thick glass, or making complex cuts like L-shapes, U-shapes, and notches.

Can I cut porcelain tile with a manual cutter?
Yes. High-quality professional manual cutters from brands like Sigma, RTC Products, and Battipav are specifically engineered with titanium or tungsten carbide scoring wheels and high breaking force (often over 2,000 lbs). This allows them to cleanly score and snap dense, large-format porcelain tiles.
