Silicone sealant for pools, spas and fountains

Maxisil P Pool & Fountains Sealant is a neutral-cure silicone formulated for specified joints in swimming pools, spas, fountains and similar water features. Choose this pool-specific formulation when the finished joint will be exposed to pool or fountain service conditions. Suitable for service after curing does not mean it can be applied underwater.

Where it fits

  • Compatible pool and spa joint details that call for a flexible, water-exposed silicone sealant.
  • Fountain and water-feature joints within the manufacturer's substrate and chemical-exposure limits.
  • Selected expansion, perimeter and connection joints where proper joint geometry and preparation are provided.
  • Not for drinking-water applications. Use a product specifically approved for potable-water service when that is required.

Choose the pool formula and color

Choose from the Pool & Fountains color variants above; each is a 310 mL cartridge. This is not an all-purpose substitute for Wet Area silicone or Natural Stone silicone. Do not use Maxisil P on marble or natural-stone swimming pools: the current manufacturer Pool sheet excludes those substrates and refers to Natural Stone silicone for stone applications. Specialized pool finishes also require compatibility review.

Installation and the pool-fill waiting period

  • Apply to properly prepared joints: clean, dry, sound substrates according to the manufacturer sheet; do not apply into a filled pool.
  • Application temperature: approximately 5–35°C (41–95°F).
  • Curing rate: approximately 2–3 mm per 24 hours at 23°C and 50% relative humidity. Full cure varies with joint depth and conditions.
  • Before filling: the manufacturer states a minimum of four days, preferably two weeks before filling. Deeper joints or unfavorable conditions may require additional curing; follow the current technical sheet and project specification.

For tooling, use the Maxisil Applicator and Smoothtex A. See the current Maxisil Pool technical data sheet for joint and substrate requirements.

Common questions

Can I use this to patch a leaking joint while the pool is full?

No. Pool-service suitability is not permission to install the product underwater. Drain and prepare the joint as specified.

When can I refill the pool?

Allow at least four days; the manufacturer's preferred period is two weeks. Confirm full cure for the actual joint depth and site conditions.

Do you have a contractor case?

Yes. The Pool & Fountains case contains 15 cartridges of one chosen color plus a gun.

Does the Maxisil Pool fit in a normal caulk gun? Does it include tips and how long.

Thanks

TileTools

Yes, Maxisil Pool fits in a standard caulk gun. For best results, we recommend using a caulk gun with a 12:1 thrust ratio.

It does include an applicator tip/nozzle, and the tip is approximately 3 inches long.

Can this adhesive be used to fill hairline cracks in pool plaster?

TileTools

Maxisil Pool & Fountains Sealant is designed for pools, fountains, and underwater applications, but it is a silicone sealant, not a pool plaster repair compound. It may help seal a very small, non-structural hairline crack, but it would not be the best choice if the plaster itself needs to be repaired or if the crack is moving, widening, or causing a leak.

Will this Dry underwater?

M.H.

No, Maxisil P cannot be applied underwater. It needs to be applied to a dry surface and allowed to cure properly—4 days but preferably for 2 weeks—before the area is exposed to water. Applying it underwater would prevent proper adhesion and curing, compromising its effectiveness.
